This month’s class continues instruction in basic serger skills. During this 3-hour course, students will learn the fundamentals of altering clothing using a serger, with a focus on practical, hands-on techniques.

Students are not required to bring their own machine, though they are welcome to do so. You may bring one garment to shorten, or simply observe the process. Pants hemming typically costs around $25, making this a great opportunity to learn how to do it yourself.

Sergers will be set up and ready to use—one threaded with light-colored thread and another with black.

Assistance with personal sergers requires the machine’s manual (most are available online for download) and may need to be scheduled as a separate help session.
